On the afternoon of October 14, Communist Youth League Cadres Give Lectures and the Excellent Speakers Final of the 2022 Wuhan University Students’ Forum were held in the Lecture Hall of the Engineering Training and Innovation Practice Center of University Students.
Shuai Zhang, a 2022-grade graduate student majors in Library and Information Science of our School, stood out from the 10 finalists and won the title of 2022 Wuhan University Students’ Forum Silver Speaker.

With a loud response, Shuai Zhang, in military uniform, ran to the stage and gave a military salute to the audience. Combined with the experience in enlistment in the army, he told the story of his youth from college student to soldier with deep affection.
In September, 2017, Shuai Zhang was impressed by the General Secretary's reply to eight newly enlisted college students of Nankai University, and enlisted in the army, serving in the 61578 troops of China People's Liberation Army.
During his service, he obeyed orders, strictly observed discipline, worked hard, and was awarded honors such as excellent new recruits, excellent instructors, excellent Communist Youth League members, and excellent conscripts, etc. After retiring, he returned to the campus and continued to carry forward the fine tradition of the army. He served as a member of Tianjin Excellent Youth Party History Preaching Team and the platoon leader of the Armed Forces Department of Hexi District, Tianjin. He gave lectures on the centennial theme of the founding of the Party for many times, assisted the Armed Forces Department in conscription, organized military training for freshmen, volunteered to join the anti-epidemic volunteer team, and participated in the volunteer service of nucleic acid testing in Tianjin.
"I used to be a soldier of the People's Liberation Army of China and a strong backing of the motherland. Now I am a student of Wuhan University, a newcomer to the times and a strong future for the motherland. In the future, I should study hard and make unremitting efforts to realize the dream of a strong country and a strong army!"
Shuai Zhang's impassioned speech made a burst of applause.
"At the present, youth is for struggle; In the future, youth is in reminiscence."
Shuai Zhang shared his reflections on this sentence. He called on students to combine their struggle with the future and destiny of the country, and praise the dream song in the name of youth on the road of realizing the Chinese nation's great rejuvenation.
